Samsung has fully relocated its display production unit from China to Noida: Report – Smartprix

Earlier this year Samsung’s display arm (Samsung Display) had begun manufacturing of OLED panels at a plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. And now, the tech giant has reportedly completed its transition from China to this Indian factory. The panels made here are said to be used in Samsung smartphones sold in India. Not just that, even IT display panels are also made here. So, this should be a major feat in the company’s “Make in India” initiative.

In an official release, the company credits the conducive industrial environment and investor-friendly policies for this shift from China to Noida. And on the occasion of this completed establishment, Samsung’s Southwest Asia President & CEO Ken Kang has telephoned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The delegation has underscored its commitment towards Make in India and that it aims to make Uttar Pradesh a manufacturing hub. Meanwhile, CM Yogi has lauded the ‘Make in India’ initiative and its role in the employment and empowerment of the state’s youth. He also promised his government’s continued support to Samsung’s future endeavors.

In an ET report, earlier this year, it was reported that Samsung Display Noida has gained special incentives from the state govt. The South Korean giant has earmarked ₹4,825 crores for this relocation. This factory should generate a lot of jobs. And as analysts note, this move should attract more players in the supply chain to the Indian market. So, let’s see how this impacts the future of the display ecosystem in India.
