Samsung rolls out ‘Matter Easy Pair’ for Galaxy phones: What is this feature and how it can make pairing smart home devices easier – Times of India

Several smart home device manufacturers have started rolling out Matter support to their devices. Now, Samsung has added a new feature — Matter Easy Pair — that will make Galaxy smartphones and tablets pair faster and quicker with Matter-enabled devices, reports SamMobile.
Samsung already supports Nearby Device Scanning which helps the Galaxy devices automatically detect Galaxy Buds, Watch and other Galaxy accessories. According to the report, the Matter Easy Pair feature will have the same popup UI that appears when a new Galaxy accessory is nearby. The feature appears to be based on Google’s Matter Fast Pair support that the company will make available for modern Android smartphones.
What is Matter Easy Pair and how it works
Matter Easy Pair, as the name implies, is a fast pairing technology for Matter-enabled devices. This means, once a Matter-enabled device is nearby and in pairing mode, the Galaxy smartphone will automatically detect it just like it does with Galaxy Buds, Watch, etc.
The feature is not limited to Galaxy devices only. Google has also confirmed the Matter Fast Pair feature that’s set to arrive in the coming days for modern smartphones. In fact, Samsung’s version is based on Google Fast Pairing.
As far as functionality is concerned, it works similarly to a Fast Pair-enabled accessory. Once the smart home device is in pairing mode, the smartphone will automatically show a popup for the device and ask you to connect instantly.
How it will make things easier for users
If you’ve ever tried to connect a smart home appliance or a device like a smart bulb, plug, etc then you must be aware that they aren’t that easy. In fact, most of the devices fail to pair in the first go. With Matter support and Matter Easy Pair, this will become much easier and faster for users.
