Samsung has expanded its M-series smartphone range in India with the launch of Samsung Galaxy M53 5G. This is the second M-series device launched by the company this month after the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G. The smartphone is successor to the Samsung’s Galaxy M52 5G that is among the ‘top-selling’ mid-range phones from the company.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 is also the first model in the M-series to sport a 108MP camera. Although the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is the company’s most recent smartphone, it is quite similar to its predecessor Samsung Galaxy M52 5G. To help you understand the difference between the two devices, here are 8 things that are new and not new in the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G.
New: Processor
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC.
New: Price (Rs 2000 less)
Samsung Galaxy M53 5G comes in two variants – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB priced at Rs 23,999 and Rs 25,999 respectively. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G 6GB and 8GB RAM variants were priced at Rs 26,999 and Rs 28,999 at the time of launch. However, the models received a Rs 2,500 price cut last year.
New: Operating system
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G smartphone runs on OneUI 4.1 operating system based on Android 12 out of the box. Although the Samsung Galaxy M52 has received the Android 12 update, it runs on Android 11 out of the box.
New: Rear camera
When it comes to camera, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G sports a new quad camera setup that consists of a 108MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro sensor. The triple camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G comprises 64MP primary sensor, 12MP ultra-wide-sensor and 5MP macro sensor.
New: Colour options
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G will be available in two colour options – Deep Ocean Blue and Mystique Green. While the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is available in Blazing Black and Icy Blue colour options.
Not new: Front camera
Samsung has not disturbed the front camera in the new 5G smartphone. For selfies and video calls, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G sports a 32MP punch hole camera at the front.
Not new: Battery
Both Samsung Galaxy M53 5G and Samsung Galaxy M52 5G are backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.
Not new: Display
Both the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G and Samsung Galaxy M52 5G mid-range smartphones feature the same screen. The devices get a 6.7-inch FHD+ Infinity-O display. The display in both the smartphones gets support for up to 120Hz refresh rate.
