Samsung shows off astonishing Galaxy upgrade that its rivals must now match
Samsung revealed its latest batch of tablets last month, with the Korean firm boasting that these devices aren’t only faster but also much more robust. In fact, the Tab S9 range is the very first Samsung tablet to be certified as water-resistant, meaning owners should be able to take a dip in the bath without fear of a soggy circuit board.
It’s a bold claim. But for anyone still wondering whether this feature really works, Samsung has published video footage showing off just how well its tablets can cope underwater!
In a post on its newsroom, the Korean company has released a video snippet which shows a Tab S9 completely submerged in water and it doesn’t appear to suffer from the experience.
What’s even more impressive is that the device can even be used when deep in the drink with another demo showing someone physically drawing on the display using the new waterproof S Pen stylus. So, if you need a device that you can doodle on in the swimming pool it appears that the Tab S9 should probably be top of your wishlist.
“When submerged completely underwater, the performance of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra remains unchanged — playing videos and displaying text written using the S Pen with no screen lag or delay,” Samsung explained.
It’s impressive stuff and is certainly a feature rival devices such as the iPad might now want to consider adopting.

Along with being IP68 water resistant, the Tab S9 range also gets a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, improved cameras, loud AKG speakers and lengthy battery life.
There’s also access to a fleet of new productivity and creative apps including GoodNote, LumaFusion and Clip Studio Paint.
Samsung has confirmed a total of three new Tab S9 devices including a standard 11-inch model, a larger S9+ option and ultimate S9 Ultra, which packs a giant 14.6-inch display inside its shell.
Prices start from a pretty hefty £799 but there are some pre-order deals including extra storage for free and money off if you had over an old tablet.
