Star Wars Outlaws is the next big game from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment based on George Lucas’ iconic franchise. Scheduled for launch in 2024, the developers shared new looks and information about the game at the recent San Diego Comic-Con 2023. The highlights of it include all that we got to know about the planet Tatooine that will be featured in the game, a new planet called Toshara, and new features that the game will include like a cooking system.
The open world of Star Wars Outlaws detailed
Tatooine is one of the major planets that players will get to explore and will include a lot of the action of the game. It is so big that players will have a speeder to travel from one point to another. Additionally, you will also be able to meet Jabba the Hutt and work with him, even betray him, though the developers do not recommend it. The developers reportedly also revealed a close up of Han Solo frozen in carbonite.
Toshara is a new planet that is being introduced to the Star Wars universe with this game, and has reportedly been modelled after the savannahs of Africa. The “scoundrel fantasy” is at Toshara’s “beating heart” (thanks Eurogamer!), as revealed by a developer during the showcase. As reported by Polygon, wind plays a major role in carving the planet’s geography, with the city of Murugana essentially being a settlement based out of a rock that got carved and eroded by the wind. The single-environment planetary rule that players can spot throughout the galaxy has been integrated into Toshara as well. Tosharans reportedly use kites for farming in this windy planet.
Star Wars Outlaws is set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in the timeline. It is a time when the Empire has its hands full of the Rebellion that has resulted in a lot of crime and thievery thriving in the universe. This is where players step in as an individual trying to make their way through the galaxy.
Three new Order 66 survivors revealed
In other news, Lucasfilm Publishing’s Star Wars Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade by Delilah S. Dawson is now out. The book follows the story of Iskat Akaris, a former Jedi turned Inquisitor (via Screen Rant). Rise of the Red Blade reveals three more Order 66 survivors, Charlin Plaka, Klefan Opus, and an unnamed Zeltron Jedi. Charlin and Iskat Akaris were Padawans together, where the former used to bully the latter. Klefan Opus, on the other hand, was tasked with teaching Iskat to resist the Dark Side. Akaris was sent to kill both Charlin and Klefan after they escaped Order 66, but the other unidentified Zeltron Jedi died in collateral.
