Scam 2003 release date, cast, plot and everything we know so far

Scam 2003 is one of the most anticipated Web series of 2023, and director Hansal Mehta just increased the hype a bit more with the announcement of its release date through a teaser on social media.

According to this post by the famed director, Scam 2003, the second in his popular Scam series, will release on September 2nd, 2023. Much like the first one, this series will premiere exclusively on SonyLIV India. The date of announcement is special because it marks the third anniversary of the rebranded Sony IV 2.0, which was launched back in June 2020.

To recall, SonyLIV 2.0, which is celebrating its third anniversary, was launched with a new logo and user interface, allowing the platform to shed its legacy image and instead go for exciting original content alongside premium, international content. The first year was a big hit with the release of Scam 1992 in October 2020.

Scam 2003 plot: what to expect?

Scam 2003: The Telgi Story is a crime biographical drama series that will revolve around the chronicles of Abdul Karim Telgi, the mastermind behind a massive counterfeit stamp paper scam. It will show how the scammer, born in the humble town of Khanapur in Karnataka, made it big in the con world through his masterful deception and people skills.

As in what to expect, Scam 2003 might show the humble beginnings of Abdul Karim Telgi, followed by his rise to the top, and eventual fall to doom. Thus, while Scam 2003 follows a similar plot line and inspiration as Scam 1992, it isn’t a sequel of the original show, more a franchise that focuses on the biggest scams in India in the last few decades.

Scam 2003 cast and crew

The Web series has a cast that includes names like Gagandev Riar, playing Telgi, alongside supporting actors such as Mukesh Tiwari, Shaad Randhawa, and Dinesh Lal Yadav among others. It has been directed by Hansal Mehta, while writing credits go to Sanjay Singh and Kiran Yagnopavit.

Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal have been credited for being producers, while Stanley Mudda is the series cinematographer. Kunal Walve is the show’s editor, costume design is done by Arun J Chauhan, and makeup head is Ramesh Panda.

Scam 2003 trailer has not been released yet, only the date announcement teaser video has been released. Considering September 2nd is the digital release date, we can expect the full trailer to come out in the third week of July or the first week of August 2023.
