Pathaan was not just one of the most popular Bollywood movies in recent times — since its release on January 25th, it was one of the most trending and engaging topics all across the internet. Such was the popularity of the film, that by itself, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer brought a struggling Bollywood back to firm footing in movie theatres across the country. Now, even as the film continues to play in theatres, the blockbuster Bollywood spy thriller is reportedly coming to over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services — thus giving you the option to watch the film from the comfort of your home.
When and where can you watch Pathaan online?
According to reports, Pathaan is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, March 22nd. It is not clear if this is confirmed, since Amazon itself has not published an official statement or tweet announcing the addition, but has published a Shah Rukh Khan teaser. However, films are often added to platforms without much fanfare, and it remains to be seen if the launch of the movie on the streaming platform takes place on the rumoured date.
Pathaan: box office collection
It is interesting to note that Pathaan is not only the most successful Bollywood film to have released this year, or in the years since the onset of the covid-19 pandemic — it is the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, and the fifth-highest grossing Indian film so far. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Pathaan has grossed nearly Rs 539 crore in India since its release, while an India Today report, citing trade receipts, claims that the total collection in India is closer to Rs 550 crore. Global collection estimates rank Pathaan at over Rs 1,000 crore.
In terms of Hindi films, Pathaan sits behind only Dangal, the 2016 film on Indian wrestling headlined by Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra — which has reportedly earned over Rs 2,000 crore worldwide.
