Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove digs up almost three million sales
I can dig it
It may be pushing nine years old, but NES-loving platform adventure Shovel Knight is proving to be the gift that keeps on giving. In fact, developer Yacht Club Games has announced that bumper pack o’ fun, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, is closing in on a spectacular three million sales.
If you are not one of those three million sales, then allow me to fill you in, (pun fully intended) on the details. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is a GOTY-style compendium that includes the original 2014 adventure in its entirety, alongside three additional DLC campaigns, (Plague of Shadows, Specter of Torment, and King of Cards), and a fun multiplayer fighting game, Shovel Knight Showdown. The package provides hours of platform-hopping, monster-slaying, ground-breaking (literally) action.
On Twitter, the Yacht Club Games team celebrated the title’s success, thanking fans for their support and hoping to break the three million mark before 2022 is done. In addition, the studio announced that 2021 release Cyber Shadow has sold over 85,000 copies, and has been played by an estimated 300,000 players on Xbox Game Pass. Yacht Club Games’ next big project is the cool-looking adventure Mina the Hollower, which is currently in development with an expected 2023 release date. You can find Jonathan holmes’ interview with the developers right here.
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Don’t forget to check out the mammoth art asset dump released by Yacht Club Games back in March.
Before we wrap up, we wanted to give a quick update on Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove! We’re so close to that 3 million units mark. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll break the barrier at some point this year! We’re immensely grateful for our amazing community’s continued love & support! pic.twitter.com/zjmK6JpNvJ
