Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shresta has a message for Team India ahead of Australia T20 series. Post goes viral

Shresta Iyer, the sister of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, has shared a message for Team India on Instagram ahead of Australia T20 series which starts from November 23. Shresta, who has over 1 lakh followers, said that Team India “will come back stronger than ever” after the loss in the World Cup final. In an appreciation post for Team India she said that “Australia won the cup but you all won our hearts. The way we dominated this tournament, won all the 10 matches , you all didn’t give up till the end and fought for the cup equally makes you all a winner and I’m very proud of my team.”

She admitted that she was heart broken after India lost to Australia in the World Cup final. “Yes I am heart broken because we lost the finals but I respect each and everyone of you for equally putting in efforts for the team,” Shresta said.

Shreyas Iyer will be back in action in the T20 series against Australia, starting 23rd November. He will join the squad for the December 1 and December 3 matches to be played at Raipur and Hyderabad.

She also had a special message for her brother Shreyas. “Nobody knows how hard you’ve worked to get where you are today Shreyas. I just want to say that I’m incredibly proud of you . You’ve always been a bright shining light of inspiration for me and for so many others . Yesterday was not our day but I’m sure we will come back stronger,” she said.

Shresta message has gone viral garnering over 55,000 likes in just a day. Shreyas, who has been the mainstay of the Indian middle-order during the tournament, had also shared a post on social media platform X after the loss to Australia.

“We’re heartbroken, it still hasn’t sunk in and it won’t for a while. My first World Cup was an experience that has taught me so much and made me grateful for everything that’s come my way.” he said. Shreyas also thanked the team management, BCCI, support staff, teammates and fans for “backing us from the beginning right up until the end,” he said.

Shreyas Iyer, though he could not succeed with the bat in the World Cup final, had a very good tournament. In 11 matches, he scored 530 runs at a strike rate of 113.
