Sky broadband DOWN: Users report issues getting online as outage hits UK

If you’re trying and failing to get online this morning you are not alone. Sky broadband appears to be having some serious issues with hundreds of users reporting that their internet access is down and not working. The gremlins appear to have hit around 7:50am with customers in certain parts of the UK posting messages on social media confirming the outage.

Independent website Down Detector has received around 1,000 complaints that Sky broadband is down although it’s unclear exactly which parts of the UK are having difficulties. The outage tracker monitors social mentions around certain topics to detect when services go down across the world.

Posting on its forum, one Sky user said: “Down in NR1 now on the phone to them” and another added, “It looks like a major outage – Norfolk, London and Belfast as well as numerous smaller ones.”

Along with those messages on Downdetector, there’s also plenty of chatter on Twitter about the outage,

One tweet said: “@SkyHelpTeam sky broadband down in NR32 area as well.”

Whilst another added: “@SkyUK my broadband is down along with most of Norwich. And you are in denial as usual as your website says that there are no issues. When will this be fixed?”

And one user posted a message saying: ” @SkyHelpTeam @SkyUK Sky Broadband is down in Norwich and widespread Norfolk. Please update your website to announce when this is going to be fixed. With many people working from home, broadband outage (twice in one year) will drive customers away.”

There’s currently no official word on what is causing the problems or when they will be fixed.
