Sky wants to fix your Wi-Fi with new broadband service that rivals BT and Virgin
Sky reckons it can fix all of your current broadband woes thanks to a brand-new Wi-Fi router. It’s called WiFi Max and comes packed with upgrades that should help to make the signal that beams around your home faster and more reliable. In fact, Sky is so confident in its new device it will offer money back if the connection starts to struggle.
Tucked under the shell of this broadband gadget is Wi-Fi 6 technology which offers a huge improvement over older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 signals. Firstly, it can cope with much faster speeds and offer those better downloads to more devices at once. That means if everyone is accessing the web at the same time things won’t grind to an annoying halt.
Along with providing a more reliable connection, Sky is also offering up to three Pods with its Max service. These boosters can be placed around the home to make sure even the darkest corner of the loft gets a speedy signal.
Another nifty feature is something called intelligent cloud optimisation which makes sure the devices using the most bandwidth get the right amount of juice. So, if you are trying to download an 8K Hollywood blockbuster on an iPad that device will get priority over a phone simply browsing the web or posting on social media.
Along with better downloads, Sky is also promising that its WiFi Max option offers advanced security, protecting every device connected to the network and blocking threats.
Finally, there is an easy way to check and control your broadband via the MySky app with parents even able to pause certain devices to cut down on screen time and get their youngsters away from the web.
This all sounds super impressive but how much does it cost? Sky says that prices for WiFi Max start from £10 per month on top of your current contract.
WiFi Max is compatible with:
• Superfast Broadband 35 – £25 per month (£35 with WiFi Max)
