Netflix has announced that Sonic Prime Season 2 will premiere on July 13, 2023, and has also offered fans a sneak peek of the next chapter through a first-look image from an upcoming episode.
The first season of Sonic Prime was released on Netflix in December, with eight episodes of the show’s planned 24-episode run debuting on the streaming service. It has now been confirmed via Collider that the second season of the animated adventure will be arriving this July.
Sonic Prime follows the legendary blue hedgehog on a “high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands,” but he is not alone in his journey. Sonic is joined by his best friend Tails as well as Knuckles, Rouge, Amy Rose, and Big the Cat.
The pirate versions of his cohorts are pictured in a new image from Season 2, with Knuckles the Dread, Batten Rouge, Sails Tails, Black Rose, and Catfish supporting Sonic in his race to save the universe.
Sonic Prime has an impressive lineup of voice actors, including Deven Mack as the show’s titular Blue Blur, Brian Drummond as Eggman, Ashleigh Ball as Tails, Shannon Chan-Kent as Amy Rose, Adam Nurada as Knuckles, and Ian Hanlin as Shadow the Hedgehog and Big the Cat.
The first season of Sonic Prime earned an 8/10 review from IGN, with praise going to the Netflix series for offering “an exciting look at the past while presenting some new ideas” and forging “a fun, family-friendly animated show for new and longtime Sonic the Hedgehog fans.”
