Sons Of The Forest Flashlight Guide And Location

While Sons of the Forest is a survival game at heart, it’s not lost on fans that horror plays a large part in the gameplay as well. From the jump scares that mutants can give you at any time to the dangerous creatures that are lurking around every turn, Sons of the Forest is not for the faint of heart. Of course, the scariest time during any part of the game will likely come at night, as this is when enemies can really sneak up on players and cause their hearts to leap out of their chests. To see exactly how to locate the flashlight in Sons of the Forest, check out the guide below.

Luckily for players, there aren’t real prerequisites to find the flashlight, unlike other items such as the shovel and Maintenance Key Card. All you need to do is make your way to a specific location on the map, which is found in the northwest portion of the island.

If you’re looking on your GPS, you need to zoom in on the northwest corner, but not too far. The flashlight is found more toward the center of the map than, near the northwest part of the snowy mountain range. You can see exactly where you need to go in the GPS screenshot below.

As players begin approaching this location on the map, they will see a pulsating green blip appear on their GPS and hear a beeping sound as well. Players can keep heading to the green blip and eventually they will see a purple marker on their GPS. At this purple marker, players will be at the base of a cliff or on top of that same cliff, depending on which way they came from.

If you are at the bottom of the cliff, you can look up and see a corpse hanging from a rope. Go into your inventory, take out a rock, and then aim it at the spot where the rope and the corpse’s head meet. Throw the rock and, with enough luck, the corpse will fall to the ground in front of you.

Alternatively, if you are at the top of the cliff, look down to find the corpse hanging. Take out your axe and cut the rope that is visible at the top of the cliff. The body will fall to the ground in this instance as well. Simply make your way down to the base of the cliff and approach the corpse. If you were already at the base of the cliff, then you can just walk right to the corpse.

When you approach the corpse, you will find the flashlight on the ground right next to the body. Press “E” to interact with and pick up the flashlight. Now, with the flashlight equipped, you can press “L” to activate it, which just turns on its light. In the daytime, this light won’t make much of a difference in your ability to see. However, when it turns dark or if you’re in a dimly lit cave or bunker, having the flashlight makes a world of difference. The flashlight has a decent range, giving players the ability to see multiple meters in front of them.

However, the flashlight has a short battery life, so we don’t recommend having the flashlight activated unless it’s absolutely necessary. There’s nothing worse than having your flashlight run out of juice when you’re inside of a cave surrounded by mutants.
