Sony hints at updating PS5 to PS5 Pro in 2023: Read on to know more – Smartprix

Sony’s PlayStation 4 got upgraded to PlayStation 4 Pro within 3 years of its launch. Now it seems 2023 will see PlayStation 5 getting upgraded to PS5 Pro as it completes 3 years of its release. Reports claim that Sony will finally launch the PlayStation 5 Pro in 2023 and now Sony itself has confirmed these reports. In an interview in Japan, Sony confirmed that 2023 will be an important year for the PS5.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Platform Experience SVP Hideaki Nishino revealed some details about the company’s plans for 2023. “By the end of fiscal 2022, cumulative sales will exceed 37 million units, and we believe that it will be very important for the platform as well. I hope you will look forward to next year.”

Although he did not explicitly reveal anything about PS5 Pro, what he has said seems to be a hint towards something big that will happen next year. Some reports claim that PS5 Pro might launch early next year.

PS5 Pro to have a detachable disc drive?

The upcoming PS5 Pro is expected to come with a detachable disc drive. This might be done to reduce the shipping and manufacturing costs of the company and let users decide whether they want a disc drive or not. Currently, there are 2 versions of PS5-Digital and Disc. The upcoming PS5 Pro is rumored to come with a USB Type-C port to connect the detachable disc. This model might be called PS5 Slim as well.
