Sony launches new Walkman with Android 12, Hi-Res audio and more – Times of India

Sony launched NW-A105 walkman in India in 2020, which was also the last walkman to arrive in the country. Last year, the Japanese tech company also launched two premium Walkman models — NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2, but that didn’t make its way to the Indian market. Now, the company has expanded its A300 Walkman series with another new model which will be available for European customers. Sony claims that the latest NW-A306 Walkman has been designed for users who value a premium appearance and high-quality audio. The pocket music player has an aluminium frame for superior rigidity, which also helps in low impedance, clear, stable sound and enhanced bass.

Sony is offering the NW-A306 Walkman in black and blue colour options. The latest pocket music player is priced at £350 (roughly around Rs 34,900) in the UK and €400 (roughly around Rs 35,300) in Europe. It will be available to purchase across Europe starting this month.

Sony’s latest pocket music player features a 3.6-inch HD TFT touchscreen display The Sony NW-A306 Walkman supports Wi-Fi connectivity and offers 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a microSD card. For audio, the new device supports multiple audio formats including — Hi-Res Audio, LDAC, DSD, and FLAC audio formats. The music player is also equipped with an S-Master HX digital amplifier that helps with low distortion and noise.
This device has got media playback controls on the side for the user’s convenience and includes the DSEE Ultimate music upscaling feature which is an improvement from its predecessor. The feature is compatible with both Wi-Fi streamed or downloaded music. The Edge-AI and DSEE Ultimate in the new NW-A306 promise to accurately upscale compressed digital music files to higher qualities, which users can listen to with wireless headphones.

Sony NW-A306 walkman also supports 360 Reality Audio which is Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound technology. This tech allows users to experience a variety of sounds in a 360-degree spherical sound field.
Apart from this, the NW-A306 Walkman also promises up to 36 hours of 44.1 kHz FLAC playback, 32 hours of 96 kHz FLAC High-Resolution Audio playback and 26 hours of battery backup while using a music service app. For connectivity, it has a USB Type C port, a stereo mini-jack and a microSD card slot.
