Sony PlayStation Showcase recap: Major announcements

Sony hosted its PlayStation Showcase event recently. The company showcased upcoming games for its PlayStation (PS) 5 and PSVR 2. These included the reveal of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, gameplay for Spider-Man 2, release date for Alan Wake 2, and more.

Spider-Man 2 gameplay showcased 

During the event, Sony released a long gameplay teaser of Spider-Man 2, featuring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The company, however, did not announce the release date of the game. It is likely to have a release window: fall 2023. 

New version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

The company announced a new version of Metal Gear Solid during the event. It will be called Metal Gear Solid 3: Solid Eater. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox and PC. The game, however, is currently under development and not much is known about it. At the company, PlayStation also announced the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, which includes Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Dedicated gaming streaming device

At the PlayStation Showcase 2023, Sony also revealed that it is working on a dedicated gaming streaming device that will allow players to stream any game from PS5 using Remote Play over WiFi. It is codenamed Project Q. The device will have an 8-inch HD screen with DualSense controller. Launch date is yet not known.

Sony also showcased he first official PlayStation 5 earbuds.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage coming in October

Sony has announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and Amazon Luna on October 12. A new a new feature called Assassin’s Focus is also revealed. It will allow users to mark and assassinate several targets in a row.

Bungie announces new Marathon

PlayStation studio is returning to its roots with the sci-fi shooter Bungie Marathon. PlayStation says that the game is PvP-focused. The game is coming to both Xbox and PC with cross-play and cross-save support.

In addition, PlayStation showcased a new trailer of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy XVI story trailer among others. The company also revealed launch date of Alan Wake 2 which is coming on October 17.
