Sony PlayStation Showcase Reportedly Taking Place in May 2023
A possible date for the next PlayStation Showcase has just been revealed. Multiple reports are claiming that Sony is planning a major showcase this month, ahead of the traditional June window utilised for showcases in video game industry.
Game journalist Jeff Grubb reported on Twitter, while VGC also corroborated the claims through their sources about the upcoming PlayStation Showcase.
PlayStation Showcase looks likely to take place on May 25, as per Grubb. However, he added that Sony might host the event earlier than that.

If the reports are true, Sony could be announcing the event as early as next week. It would also mean that PlayStation’s showcase will take place before Xbox Games Showcase, Summer Game Fest, and a lot more other showcases from developers and publishers which will be taking place in June.
Apart from the date, there’s nothing more revealed. So, it’s difficult to exactly pinpoint what Sony will be showcasing during the event. However, it’s likely that the showcase will include Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is set for a release in Fall 2023.
I said “week of May 25” because that’s probably the latest that week it could happen. But it could happen earlier. I just don’t want to say week of May 21 and then people get mad when it doesn’t happen on a Sunday.

Apart from an announcement trailer which was showcased at the last proper PlayStation Showcase which took place in 2021, we haven’t received much information about Insomniac’s upcoming sequel.
There might also be some information revealed about the PlayStation 5 hardware modifications that Sony has been working on, as per multiple reports.
Final Fantasy 16 is another major title that we could see more of during the upcoming PlayStation Showcase.
