Sony PlayStation VR 2 Teardown Videos Showcase the Internals of the Console; All You Need to Know

The PlayStation VR 2 is the headset that is going to bring a next-gen upgrade to the virtual reality gaming space, and it is all set to release in a week on February 22, 2023. Through announcements and events, we have already heard about the huge range of games that players will be able play on the console once it releases, and many are quite excited by it.

To build up on the hype, PlayStation has released a blog post consisting of teardown videos of the PSVR 2. Through the videos, players receive an ‘in-depth’ look on the designed internal structure and design philosophy of the headset, and the controller for the upcoming virtual reality console.

The blog post consists of two videos. The first one featuring Takamasa Akari from the Mechanical Design Team includes brief on how he and his team were able to provide for “well-balanced and symmetrical internal structure”, an upgrade on the cooling system for “comfortable gameplay”, visual upgrades to provide for “amazing graphic fidelity,” and improve ergonomics on the headband design to “maximize comfort”.

In the second video involving Takeshi Igarashi from the Peripheral Design team, we learn more about the tracking technology used by the PSVR 2 sense controller. Moreover, he talks about the finger-touch detection feature, which makes provisions for more natural hand gestures. Igarashi concludes by talking about the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger upgrades which were inspired by the DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5.
