Sony PS5 update brings Dolby Atmos support, new customisations

- Users can now utilise a second DualSense controller to assist them, improving accessibility, as per the company blog.
- Users now have the option to silence or modify the volume of the PS5’s beep sound when powering it on or off or when putting it in rest mode.
- The update provides new methods for connecting with other players and tailoring users’ multiplayer sessions to their liking.
- The update also adds support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs, with capacities extending up to 8TB.
- The new update also allows users to enjoy 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech on HDMI devices that support Dolby Atmos.
The company said it is also expanding the compatibility of PS Remote Play to include more Android devices. It is also planning to introduce some enhancements to the PS App in the upcoming weeks.
PS Remote Play enables users to stream games from their PS5 or PS4 console to various devices, such as smartphones, tablets (iOS and Android), PCs, and Macs, whether connected to the internet or within the home network.
The company also mentioned that the PS Remote Play app is accessible on devices that run Android TV OS 12, which includes – Chromecast with Google TV (4K model) and BRAVIA XR A95L model.
To use Remote Play on these devices, search for the PS Remote Play app on your Android device, download it, and install it.
The update also introduces new voice commands in the US and the UK, where users can now say “Hey PlayStation, help” to instantly access help pages or “Hey PlayStation, what’s new?” to find out about the latest features and the current lineup of PS Plus offerings.
