Sony Unveils PlayStation 5 Accessibility Controller Project Leonardo, Reveals More PSVR 2 Details

At CES 2023, Sony announced Project Leonardo for the PlayStation 5, which is a highly customisable controller kit that is designed to make gaming more accessible for players with disabilities.

The company has developed the controller kit with input from accessibility experts, community members, and game developers. It is intended to help players with disabilities play games more easily, comfortably, and for longer periods. The controller allows for high configurability and can work with other third-party accessibility accessories.

Project Leonardo has a range of hardware customisation in the form of a variety of analog stick caps and buttons that come in different shapes and sizes. Software customisations on the PlayStation 5 will allow programming buttons to any supported function, store control profiles, and easily switch between them.

The controller can be used just as is or it can be paired with additional Project Leonardo or DualSense wireless controllers.

PSVR 2 details announced

At CES 2023, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, spoke about the PSVR 2. He revealed that more than 30 games are currently on-track for the launch window, including Horizon Call of the Mountain, No Man’s Sky, and Resident Evil Village.

Ryan also revealed that the Gran Turismo franchise will also come to the PSVR 2 at launch. A free upgrade will allow players to experience Gran Turismo 7 in VR. Award-winning rhythm game Beat Saber is also coming to the headset. PSVR 2 will launch globally on February 22.
