Spider-Man 2 Should Get New Game Plus Sometime This Year, But Not At Launch

Even though it’s not even officially out yet, people are already curious about New Game Plus in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Well, the feature won’t be available at launch. But, it is on the way, hopefully arriving before the year ends.

Spotted by VGC, Insomniac community director James Stevenson confirmed on Twitter/X that New Game Plus–as well as mission replay–are being worked on by the developer. The update won’t be available when Spider-Man 2 comes out tomorrow, October 20, but “should be before end of year,” Stevenson posted. A person also questioned why changing the time of day and weather aren’t available at launch, with Stevenson stating, “game dev isn’t simple, nor easy.”

Now Playing: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Review

One prominent feature that will be there tomorrow for Spider-Man 2 is the remarkably quick fast travel. Players can jump from one part of New York City to another in mere seconds, with Peter Parker or Mile Morales almost instantly web-slinging around.

Earlier this week, a new Spider-Man 2 launch trailer wondered “what the hell is going on with Pete”? The video also showcased some of the villains that appear in the PS5 exclusive, like The Lizard, Sandman, and Venom.

GameSpot’s Spider-Man 2 review calls it “a great game and one well worth seeing all the way through from its bombastic beginning to its emotional end.” For more, check out how long it takes to beat Spider-Man 2 as well as our preorder guide for the PS5 exclusive.
