Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has taken the world by storm, with fans still trying to comprehend the multitude of Spider-Men they saw in the film. However, there was one specific variant that did not make it to the final cut but was considered until the last moment by the directors.
In an interview with Empire, one of the three directors of the film, Joaquim Dos Santos, revealed a peculiar variant of Spider-Man that was being considered to feature in the iconic Spider-Man HQ scene. Dos Santos stated that the HQ scene was also going to feature “one of the Toy-Biz Spider-Man toys” which would have a “giant kid’s hand that would go off-screen and hold him.”
But this concept was scrapped as there was a need to “instill a sense of amazement” in the scene. Dos Santos explained that they wanted fans to crack jokes such as “Bag-man” when they saw Spider-Society, but they also wanted them to be “in awe of this place” once Miles entered the HQ.
It does not come as a surprise that this idea was scrapped, even though fans got to see some of the most bizarre variants of Spider-Man in the film. We got to see variants such as Spider-Rex, Lego Spider-Man, Spider-Cat, and many more unexpected reveals during this scene.
