Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Featured an Entire Sequence Made by a 14-Year-Old Animator
Editor’s Note: Slight spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ahead!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse showcased multiple universes during its run. From Gwen Stacy’s Earth-65 to Miles Morales’ Earth-1610, the film showcased these worlds in various visual styles.
Along with that, there were several visually unique worlds that fans witnessed. This includes Earth-13122 aka the LEGO Marvel universe. The film featured Earth during the Spot’s multidimensional travel, as one of the popped outside The Daily Bugle office. The Spot’s anomaly was later reported to the Spider-Society by Earth-13122’s Peter Parker, who witnessed the event from the office.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s 14-Year-Old Animator
Unlike many of the film’s scenes, which were worked on by several animators, the LEGO sequence was made by a single person. The person in question is 14-year-old Preston Mutanga, whose involvement in the project was confirmed by the teenager and several other prominent people who worked on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Mutanga is most notably known for his YouTube channel LegoMe_TheOG, where he posts videos of animated CGI LEGO sequences from various films and TV shows. Prior to the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s release, Mutanga released several videos of him animating sequences from the first Spider-Verse film with LEGO characters.
Most recently, he gained widespread recognition for his CGI LEGO version of the second Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
