Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Might Crossover With Tom Hardy’s Venom Universe, As Teased by Sony Pictures
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse’s release date is right around the corner as Miles Morales is set to comeback on June 1st, 2023. The trailers have already given us an idea how Across the Spider-verse will include crossovers on an even larger scale than it was in Into the Spider-verse. The latest is that Sony has now nodded at the fan theory of MCU live-action characters appearing in Into The Spiderverse. A Sony Pictures Vietnam post advertised that the live-action Venom universe is to appear in the Spider-Verse. Here’s all you need to know.
Tom Hardy’s Live-action Venom universe teased in new Across the Spider-Verse promo
Promoting the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony Pictures Vietnam posted a picture earlier this week, that confirms a major fan theory. It shows Across the Spider-Verse villain Spot, entering Mrs Chen’s shop from Venom’s live-action movie, through a portal. Spot then ‘robs’ her store, and vanishes with gum which is conveniently branded as “Venomint”.
Along with the video comes the following caption which is even more interesting-
“After the LEGO universe, it is the turn of the live-action Venom universe to also appear in the #SpiderVerse. And there will be many more exciting things to be revealed!”(via Google Translate)
The picture itself includes the words “Tom Hardy’s Universe appears in Spider-Verse 2.” (via comicbook.com).
While fans claim that Sony Pictures have given out a major spoiler, we can only guess what surprises await us, if Sony can afford to let out something this huge. As it is, Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse has already been teasing the presence of the live-action MCU movies. In one of the trailers, we see Miguel O’Hara, voiced by Oscar Isaac, explaining to Miles why he can’t be a part of the Spider-Society. He brings in the No Way Home fiasco featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange as he says, “Don’t even get me started on Doctor Strange and that little nerd back on Earth 199999.”
So with Tom Hardy now being teased to appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, does that mean we’ll get to see another No Way Home-like crossover featuring MCU’s live-action Spider-Mans with Miles Morales too? Guess we’ll have to wait till June 1st for the answer, if Sony doesn’t spoil it before that.
