The actor told Screen Rant that it is “his fingerprint” that sets Miles Morales apart. He added that Miles is his own person and makes decisions based on his own sense of what’s the right thing to do. Moore said that Miles thinks about how he wants to wear this mask and believes that there can be different ways to deal with a situation. “No matter what you say to me, I get what you’re saying about saving this and the bigger stakes make sense, I understand. But you can’t tell me that you know this for sure. I’m going to go and do what I know is right,” said Moore.
The story of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse revolves around Miles figuring out what being Spider-Man means to him. Moore added that it is at this point in Miles’ thinking that he realised “he’s wearing his mask completely. We all face that in some way, shape, form, or fashion in our lifetimes as humans.”
