Spider-Man Face-Off: Who Is the Best Spidey from Across the Spider-Verse?

The time has arrived to return to the multiverse with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Ever since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse captivated our hearts with its stylish and amazing take on Miles Morales’ story in 2018, we’ve been waiting for this sequel so we can not only see a brand-new adventure, but also so we can be surprised and delighted by which Spideys from across the beloved character’s history would be showing up.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s many trailers and posters have given us a glimpse at some very exciting cameos and characters that will be swinging their way into this sequel. We here at IGN are very excited about all of this, and we thought we’d invite you to join in on the fun and let us know which Spider from Across the Spider-Verse is the best.

Since we know more even more Spideys will show up in the actual movie, we’re going to tally up the non-spoiler votes of this Face-Off this weekend and then add all the spoiler characters we found to the Face-Off. That way we’ll have two winners for this Face-Off – the best Spidey from before we all saw the movie, and the best one after we saw it!

Are you just going to go with Miles Morales? Or did Gwen Stacy or Peter B. Parker swing to the top of your list? We’ve selected 41 Spideys from Across the Spider-Verse’s trailers and posters to “Face-Off” against each other two at a time, and it’s up to you to choose who the best one is. Will you pick Spider-Cat over Widow the Spider-Horse? Spider-Man 2099 over Spider-Man 2211? The choice is yours…

Oh, and we did want to mention that some of the images you will see in the Face-Off were pulled from the comics or media where certain characters also appear and not the movie as some of the combatants in this Face-Off were only seen in the distance, from the back, or were too blurry to really give you a good idea of who they were.

(And don’t forget, if you don’t know a character, you can pass on a Face-Off round by just hitting “skip” at the bottom of the page.)

What Is a Face-Off?

Like the name suggests, a Face-Off pits two things against one another and you decide which one is the superior of the two. In this case, you are voting to determine which Spidey from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the best. It’s possible to see certain characters multiple times, so you can keep voting for your favorites to ensure they get ranked higher than the rest. IGN’s resident team of Spider-Man experts pre-selected 41 of the most exciting Spider-People (and animals!) we’ve found in the trailer and posters from Across the Spider-Verse so far. These get randomly paired up, and each time you pick a winner it’s tracked.

How Is the Winner Determined?

When voting ends on June 8, we tally up the total number of “wins” and “losses” each character has, and create a ranked list based on your choices that will be revealed on June 9. The character that won the most matchups will be crowned the “winner,” and in the event of a tied number of “wins,” the character with the least “losses” will take the top spot. If you continue to keep voting for your favorite character, they’ll have a better chance of ranking high on the list. You can vote as many times as you want until the Face-Off closes.

How Do I Know When I’ve Clicked Through Everything?

It’s difficult to know when you’ve seen every Spidey included because they are matched randomly and there are so many possible match-ups. Playing until you vote for all your favorites or ensuring that certain characters don’t get in the winner’s circle are different options you can take with a Face-Off. By deciding the winner throughout all these match-ups, you’re ensuring that your picks for your best Spidey from Across the Spider-Verse will have a fighting chance to reach the top of the list.

Which Spider-People/Animals Have Been Included?

The list of the best Spideys from Across the Spider-Verse included in this Face-Off has been decided by IGN staff and, as previously mentioned, has been built based on the Spideys we’ve discovered so far in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s trailers and posters. We’ve not included any special Spider-People from the film itself that haven’t been publicly shown, so those will remain a surprise for those waiting to see it in theaters this weekend or beyond. Also, we want to remind fans that some of the Face-Off art for the characters has been pulled from other media like comics or TV as some of these Spideys only appear in the background, are blurry, are facing away from the camera, etc., and we wanted to give you a good idea of who you are voting for.
