Spider-Man: No Way Home Becomes the 6th Highest Grossing Movie of All Time With $1.8 Billion

Marvel had a successful Super Bowl Sunday after releasing new trailers for its upcoming projects in the Moon Knight Disney+ show and Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While the world watched in awe of the Benedict Cumberbatch and Oscar Isaac-starring projects, the MCU’s most recent movie broke another record at the box office.

After surpassing the $1 billion mark a few weeks ago, Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home added another feather to its cap as it crossed the $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office.

This comfortably puts No Way Home as the 6th highest grossing movie of all time, and it only lags behind flicks such as Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.

In the US, Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed around $759 million, which is just shy of Avatar’s domestic box office record of $760 million.

This week, the movie raked in $11 million and $7.1 million in the international and domestic box offices, respectively, and with the way the movie’s performing it’s very likely that Peter Parker’s latest adventure will break the domestic record held by Avatar.

While the movie continues to bring in the money for Marvel and Sony, Peter Parker and crew couldn’t bag many nominations for the upcoming awards season.

While it missed out on the BAFTAs because of a technicality, Spider-Man: No Way just received two nominations at the Oscars, even though Marvel and Sony heavily campaigned for the movie to feature in categories like Best Picture and many more.

In the end, while Tom Holland’s final flick in his Spider-Man trilogy didn’t create much waves for the awards, it still holds a special place in the hearts of many MCU fans, and they can’t wait to see what Marvel has in store for them after the movie explored the multiverse unlike never before.
