Star Trek: Infinite Trailer Teases A Showdown Between Galactic Empires

Star Trek: Infinite, a new strategy game set in the iconic sci-fi franchise from developer Nimble Giant Entertainment and publisher Paradox Interactive, has been announced as part of Summer Game Fest.

Details are extremely light so far, but Paradox is labeling Star Trek: Infinite as a “grand strategy game.” A brief teaser trailer shows a Federation fleet headed for a showdown with one of Star Trek’s most well-known villains, the Borg, before zooming out to reveal a galaxy map divided into four quadrants.

As teased in the trailer, players will be able to choose between the United Federation of Planets, the Cardassian Union, the Klingon empire, or the Romulan empire. According to Paradox, each faction will have “individualized traits, stories, quests, and more to make their play feel distinct.” Players will have to make difficult choices “as they navigate contact with other empires and worlds.” Despite featuring heavily in the game’s trailer, the Borg won’t be playable, but instead look to be an obstacle players will have to overcome, regardless of their chosen faction. The game is set a few decades before the beloved Star Trek: The Next Generation television show.

Paradox Interactive teases that the game will bring the “captivating fantasy of the Star Trek universe into an experience never before had,” according to the trailer’s official YouTube description. Star Trek: Infinite will come to PC and Mac this Fall, according to an official press release.

Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long to learn more official details. A full reveal for Star Trek: Infinite will come on June 16, aka Picard Day.
