Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game Had a ‘Strong Launch’, Already Reached Millions, Says EA CEO

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched earlier last month on April 28. Electronic Arts recently held its earnings call for the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2023 on May 9. It is here that CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that they are “overjoyed” with the performance of the company’s latest game.

Developed by Respawn Entertainment, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Survivor released on April 28, and the CEO mentioned that the game has already successfully reached “millions” of players across the world. They consider it to be a “very strong launch” for EA, as Wilson also added that the title is “pacing very strongly”, against their “expectations and against Jedi: Fallen Order.”

Here’s exactly what Andre Wilson said in the call, as reported by Videogames Chronicle:

“Within the first few weeks, millions of players have joined Cal Kestis and BD-1 in their rebellion against the Empire.”

“On Jedi, we’re overjoyed. We made the bold decision to move the title six weeks to give the team the opportunity to really get to the quality of the game that they wanted”.

“I think we’re building on where we were with Jedi: Fallen Order and it’s certainly been a very strong launch for us.

“It’s very early, I think we’re 11 days in at this point, we’re in a different kind of market dynamic, but I would tell you it’s pacing very strongly against our expectations and against Jedi: Fallen Order.”

While the game has indeed received some positive reviews (IGN India rated the game a 9 out of 10) several players have also reported to have experienced performance issues, especially on PC. This is to the extent that the game now has a rating of mixed reviews on Steam, with only 58% of the reviews rating the game positively.

A patch, however, was dropped earlier on May 9, across all platforms, which included performance enhancements for VFX. The patch notes also informed that the developers continue to investigate how to improve performance for the latest i7 and i9 CPUs with efficiency cores. EA is now expected to release another major patch along with more bug fixes, and performance improvements soon.
