Star Wars: New Jedi Order Plot Synopsis Reportedly Revealed With a Release Date

A new report claims that the plot synopsis for Rey’s upcoming Star Wars movie has been revealed. The confirmed movie will be set during the New Jedi Order era. There is no official title revealed yet by Disney but the new report claims to have revealed the plot, title and even release date. While that is enough to get a lot of Star Wars fans excited, the report has turned out to be mostly inaccurate.

Star Wars New Jedi Order Movie Plot

Production Weekly’s Issue 1355 contained the synopsis for “Star Wars: New Jedi Order”, a title that has been discarded as general wording by a Lucasfilm source (thanks Gizmodo). The claimed synopsis reads, “Set roughly 15 years after Rey’s victory over Palpatine at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The sequel delves into Rey’s courageous endeavor to restore the Jedi Order, where she assumes the role of a mentor to two promising young students – a girl and a boy. As her training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses extraordinary abilities, destined to emerge as the future leader.”

Debunked Details

Gizmodo reported that iO9’s source at Lucasfilm has dubbed the plot “mostly inaccurate.” However the report from Gizmodo does substantiate that production for the movie might start at April 2024 but given the current writer’s strike, that might also see a delay.

While all this is speculation at best, here are a few things that have been confirmed so far. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be directing this movie with Steven Knight as its writer. The broad plot outline about Daisy Ridley portraying Rey in a story about rebuilding the New Jedi Order is also true.

Release Date

As for the release date, Disney has revealed May 22 and December 18 in 2026 as well as December 17, 2027, as release dates for three untitled Star Wars movies. This particular movie has one of these three as its release date.
