WhatsApp is developing another feature to improve status updates that may be released in a future beta update. According to a WABetaInfo report, the company is developing a new feature to view status updates within the chats list which will be released at a later date.
The Meta-owned messaging platform is also reportedly working on quick reactions for status updates which will also be introduced in a future update. Instagram users will be aware of how it is possible to view status updates right within the list of their private chats. The report suggests that the same feature is also coming for WhatsApp. This feature is still under development and has only been rolled out for the beta testers.
Previously, a newly published status update was visible for the users only in the Status section. however, with this update, users will be able to see the statuses within the chats list or while searching for chats and messages. Whenever a user clicks on the chat cell, WhatsApp opens the conversation with the contact.
However, with this upcoming Instagram-like feature, when a contact has recently published a status update, users can click on the profile picture to see the update as well. The report suggests that after the feature is released, more people will start viewing status updates published by their contacts.
The report also mentions that the information about the upcoming update was from a future build of WhatsApp Desktop`and will also be available in a future update of WhatsApp beta for both Android and iOS. However, the company has not confirmed the release date of the upcoming feature.
