Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says Bengals’ Tyler Boyd is ‘entitled to his opinion’ but needs no response

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin doesn’t care what other NFL players think about the Steelers’ performance. He especially doesn’t care about what Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd thinks after the Steelers lost to the Bengals on Sunday 24-10.

At Tuesday’s news conference, Tomlin was quick to dismiss comments made by Boyd after Sunday’s loss.

“I don’t care about Tyler Boyd’s opinion regarding what transpired at any point in that game,” Tomlin told reporters Tuesday. “Like I said after the game, and it includes him, I tip my cap to that team and that organization for their performance and win. I proceed on to the next challenge. … He’s entitled to his opinion, but I don’t have to respond to it.”

Tomlin’s comments come after Boyd was vocal about the Steelers’ fourth quarter performance Sunday, in which he claims the Steelers “gave up.”

“The last plays of the game for [the Steelers], they gave up. You could see it,” Boyd told reporters. “They had three drops in a row and for a team to see that is giving us more power, giving us the antidote to know how good we are. For a team to just lay down like that before the game is over because no matter how much were are losing by or whatever the case may be, I know me, I know us, we’re not going to give up. We’re going to continue to try and make something happen. But they portrayed it to the whole nation on TV what they were about and how they gave up.”

The Steelers are losing the AFC North right now with their 1-2 record, while the Bengals are tied with the Ravens and Browns with a 2-1 record. Sunday was the first time the Bengals won at Heinz Field since 2015.

The two rivals will meet again Week 12 in Cincinnati. That’s a lot of time for improvement on both ends, but more specifically for the Steelers to change up some of their game.
