Stop Asking Starfield’s Studio Design Director Questions About The Game, He’s Not Allowed To Answer Them

Starfield is Microsoft’s biggest exclusive of 2023, and people understandably have a lot of questions about the spacefaring RPG. Just don’t ask studio design director Emil Pagliarulo.

Posting on Twitter, Pagliarulo said he is not authorized to speak publicly about Starfield due to a non-disclosure agreement that he signed, so any questions posed to him won’t be answered. Only game director Todd Howard is allowed to talk about unreleased Starfield info, as well as the marketing and community teams for Microsoft and Bethesda.

“I know this isn’t what any fan wants to hear from me, but I feel like I need to make this clear: no one other than Todd Howard himself is authorized to talk publicly about unreleased game info. That’s the job of of our PR/marketing/community folks,” he said.

“You have tons of questions. I get it. And my vague posting about the game doesn’t help. I am SO humbled by your anticipation of Starfield. Seriously. It’s mind boggling to me. So it really does pain me to say that I simply CAN’T answer 99% of your questions,” he added.

In another post, Pagliarulo said he’s forbidden from discussing game content, performance, and “most things” related to Starfield.

“I signed an NDA. I’m a professional. I don’t want to get fired. But your support is EVERYTHING to us. You fill my heart–every day. Best. Fans. EVER,” the developer said.

Starfield releases on September 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game could have been a PS5 exclusive, according to Microsoft, until the Xbox company swept in and bought ZeniMax.
