stories: Instagram tests a new layout for Stories that will hide excessive posts: How will it affect users – Times of India

Instagram has gained popularity over the years as a photo-sharing social media service. The Stories feature in the Facebook-owned platform has been a huge hit as users enjoy sharing everything they’re doing through this 24-hour photos and video service. Now, Instagram is testing a new layout for Stories that can be bad news for creators. This new Instagram Stories layout will hide excessive posts. According to a 9to5Mac report, a Brazilian user noticed that the Instagram app was showing only three Stories shared by other people.
Instagram Stories’ new layout availability
The report suggests that only a small group of users have received the update. This means that Instagram is still testing these changes before releasing them to all users. Moreover, there is no confirmation about whether the new changes will be made available to all the users.
How will the new Instagram Stories layout work?
Currently, Instagram users can post up to 100 stories at once. However, with this new layout users have to tap a “Show All” button to see the rest of the Stories. Otherwise, users with this new update will only be able to see three stories and Instagram will jump to the next person’s Stories.
How will this change impact users?
The new layout for Instagram Stories will bring a significant change as most users are used to tapping the screen to see all Stories from an account at once. Instagram users will no longer be able to use this touch gesture after it has been updated. This might turn out to be an issue for creators as the Stories posted after the third one will probably have lower views counts.
However, this change will allow users to see posts from more people in a shorter period and can avoid the Stories if they’re not interested in that content. Several creators depend on Instagram as a working tool and these changes can hurt them.
