Street Fighter 6 Hits Over 1 Million Players During Opening Weekend

Street Fighter 6 has reached over one million players across its opening weekend, Capcom announced on the official Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account.

The fighting game launched on June 2 to critical acclaim (with IGN’s 9/10 review calling it a knockout) and plenty of players seem to be enjoying it too.

With the launch of Street Fighter 6, the series has sold over 50 million copies, and Capcom celebrated the achievement by gifting all players the “Just Picked Up SF6” profile title.

Street Fighter 6 also got off to a strong start on PC where it became Steam’s most-played fighting game of all time by concurrent player count, beating out the likes of Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, and predecessor Street Fighter 5 on Valve’s platform.

Capcom certainly did a lot to ensure fighting game fans knew Street Fighter 6 was on the way too, hosting a series of betas for the game following its announcement in 2022.

That’s not all though, as the publisher even set up a handful of somewhat bizarre partnerships between Street Fighter and other brands including Rebook and Chipotle.
