Superman Actor Henry Cavill Reveals How Close He Got to Playing James Bond Over a Decade Ago
British actor Henry Cavill recently confirmed that he is returning to don the cape of Superman. The superstar made his return to play one of the most iconic characters in media for the first time since he wore the suit for Justice League back in 2017 and the extended edition with Zack Snyder’s Justice League last year.
Other than portraying the Man of Steel, the actor has also played other popular characters like Sherlock Holmes in the Enola Holmes film series led by Millie Bobby Brown. And over a decade ago, Cavill was even close to playing another iconic role in British super spy James Bond.
During a recent chat with Josh Horowitz for the latter’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cavill talked about how close he got to playing James Bond instead of Daniel Craig, who portrayed the role in five films since 2006.
The British actor further stated that he wasn’t ready to take on such a humongous role at the time, while also mentioning that Craig was indeed the right choice for the role.
With the film producers for Bond reportedly looking for an actor in his 30s to succeed Daniel Craig in the role, it seems like Cavill might not have an opportunity to portray the British super spy. However, the actor has admitted that he would definitely entertain the conversation of being in the running for the role again.
