We now have our new Man of Steel and Lois Lane for the DC reboot. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have made it to the finishing line of their Superman Legacy casting, and the beginning of their DC journey.

However, it’s been a long wait, involving endless speculations surrounding multiple actors and actresses who were reportedly trying out for the roles which also included Tom Brittney and Nicholas Hoult, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor. Here’s what former Superman frontrunner, Tom Brittney has to say to the news of the casting.

Tom Brittney reacts to Superman: Legacy casting

The news of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan playing Superman and Lois Lane respectively was revealed first by The Hollywood Reporter. This was confirmed by Superman: Legacy director James Gunn on June 28 via a tweet, where he reposted the report with the caption “Accurate!”. Within a few hours, Tom Brittney reacted in a separate tweet, with a red heart emoji.

Superman: Legacy is reportedly scheduled for July 11, 2025. It is written and directed by James Gunn, with Peter Safran producing it. According to the official synopsis, here’s what Superman: Legacy is about,

“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

As a result, David Corenswet, who is currently 29, will be portraying a younger Superman. Corenswet was earlier seen in Netflix shows The Politician and Hollywood.
