Suryakumar needs to spend time with batting coach to overcome technical difficulties: Sunil Gavaskar | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The kind of success Suryakumar Yadav enjoys in T20Is so far is not seen in the ODIs and what added to his woes is the double golden duck he endured in the first two ODIs against Australia.
Former India player and legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come with a piece of advice for struggling Surya who was trapped in front by Australian pacer Mitchell Starc on both the occasions.
Speaking to Star Sports after India innings folded for 117 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Gavaskar raised a concern about Surya’s batting stance which he thinks is good for T20 cricket but in ODIs, he will always be in danger of being adjudged LBW.
“He is facing technical difficulties. Also his stance is an open one. It is good for T20 cricket because any delivery that is overpitched, he can flick it for a six. But here, when the ball is placed right near the foot, with this stance, the bat will definitely come across. It cannot come straight. Hence, if the ball turns inside, he will face difficulty. He needs to spend time with the batting coach on how to come out of this,” he said.

Talking about the match, pacer Mitchell Starc ripped through India’s lineup with five-wicket haul to set up Australia’s crushing 10-wicket win in the second ODI that levelled their three-match series at 1-1.
Chasing 118 to win after Starc claimed 5-53 for his ninth five-wicket haul in ODIs in a fiery spell earlier in the day, Australia romped home in only 11 overs
A ferocious Mitchell Marsh cracked an unbeaten 66 in 36 balls — a knock that included six sixes — while Travis Head made 51 not out to get the tourists over the finish line.
