Suzume Gets Another Early Screening in India Ahead of Nationwide Release
PVR Pictures has announced that Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume anime film will get another early fan screening in select cities on Sunday, April 16. These cities are:
- PVR Juhu — Mumbai
- PVR Vegas, Dwarka — Delhi
- PVR Market City — Pune
- Inox R City — Ghatkopar
- Inox Quest — Kolkata
This comes after Suzume already received an even “earlier” fan screening in India on April 9, two weeks before the film’s nationwide release in India. With only a week remaining for the official release, one might wonder why the film is getting another early screening.

One reason could be that it allows PVR to charge a premium price for each seat in the cinema. With prices starting at Rs. 500 per seat, hosting an early screening event could be a lucrative way for the company to capitalise on Suzume’s popularity and the passionate Indian anime fandom to generate additional revenue.
Although, on the bright side, attendees of the screening will receive an additional perk of three posters which are signed by the film’s director, Makoto Shinkai.
Suzume releases in Japanese and Hindi in India on April 21. The film’s director, Shinkai, will visit India to attend the premiere of the film, where he will also interact with fans in a Q&A session a day before the official release on April 20.
