Team Fortress 2 Will Receive A Large Update This Summer

A large Team Fortress 2 update will arrive this summer Valve has announced. The update will include a lot of cosmetic items, but also new maps and other content.

A blog post on Steam describes it as “a full-on update sized update” that will include items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints, and possibly other inclusions. While the past few summer updates have been exclusively item updates, this will be a broader and bigger addition to the game.

Primarily, the blog post is a heads up for Steam Workshop creators to work on potential items. The summer update does not have any particular theme yet, so creators are welcome to upload anything that strikes their fancy. The post urges Steam Workshop users to get their submissions in by May 1.

Team Fortress 2 does receive regular updates, but recently most of these have been maintenance-oriented. Seasonal events have continued as normal, and have also added numerous cosmetics. While the exact scope and scale of this update is as-of-yet unknown, it will be the largest update to the game in some time, based on the description. Last year, Team Fortress 2’s bot problems caused a community campaign to repair the game.
