Tecno Phantom X2 Pro has a unique retractable portrait lens on the back | Digit
Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is a flagship-grade smartphone with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, a 5160mAh battery with 45W charging, a 120Hz display and a triple rear camera setup with a retractable portrait lens. Here’s how that retractable lens work.
Tecno Phantom X2 Pro retractable portrait lens: How it works
Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is the world’s first phone with a retractable portrait lens. It has three cameras on the back:
- 50MP primary camera with 1/1.3-inch Samsung GNV sensor with f/1.9 aperture
- 50MP retractable lens, 65mm telephoto 2.5x optical zoom ISOCELL JN1 sensor with f/1.5 aperture
- 13MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture
Now the star of the show is that retractable portrait lens which can physically move out and get closer to the subject. This increases the actual distance between the sensor and the lens. This offers the benefit of variable focal length within a compact form factor. In its extended 65mm-equivalent focal length, you get 2.5x optical zoom as well as greater background blur. The latter is ideal for portrait shots/depth-of-field bokeh effects.
When not in use, the lens retracts flat into the back camera panel. So you don’t have to carry around a bulky phone to enjoy the extended focal length benefits.
