Telegram receives delete by date, better device management and other features with the new update – Times of India

Whatsapp-rival Telegram has announced a host of new features via a blog post. The messaging app is offering features like private content for groups and channels, delete by date ability, improved device management and more. Let’s take a look
Protected Content in Groups and Channels
With this update, creators on Telegram will be able to protect the content they publish. If needed, group and channel owners can restrict message forwarding from their chat. This will prevent others from taking screenshots and limits the ability to save media from posts.
To change users’ ability to forward messages open the Group or Channel Info page > Group / Channel Type > Restrict Saving Content.
Delete Messages by Date
Telegram users will now be able to delete chat history from a specific day or date range in any one-on-one chat. To open the calendar, tap the date bar that pops up as you scroll through the chat – then choose which days to clear.
As of now, clearing history by date currently only works in one-on-one chats.
Manage Connected Devices
Telegram has added a new button to quickly link a desktop device and a setting to automatically log out inactive devices after some time. Users can also choose which connected device can accept calls or new Secret Chats.
Anonymous Posting in Public Groups
Next is the ability to appear as a channel when sending messages in public groups. Users can tap the profile picture next to the message bar and choose one of their channels. Once a user does this, messages sent by him/her will appear with the name and photo of the channel instead of your personal account.
Other features introduced by Telegram are new ways to log in via call, responses to join requests and global chat themes on Android devices. For iOS users, Telegram has announced live text recognition, the ability to format text in media captions and redesigned contact info on iOS.
