Terrible Virgin Media broadband? You could soon be owned £100

Virgin Media has announced a new incentive that it hopes will make sure every corner of your home gets speedy broadband. The new WiFi Guarantee, promises to beam a solid internet connection around the entire property.

If things drop to a snail’s pace, Virgin will try and boost things via its WiFi pods and if that doesn’t work then customers will receive £100 credit back on their account. The Intenet Service Provider (ISP) wants to make sure every room gets at least 20Mbps speeds – that’s easily enough to stream Netflix and YouTube in 4K.

This new guarantee will be included at no extra cost on the firm’s premium Gig 1 broadband and all Volt bundles.

Customers who are currently on cheaper M50 to M500 Fibre packages (without Volt) can add the guarantee for an extra £8 a month. Along with the Wi-Fi guarantee, Virgin Media says that it has also revamped its Connect app.

This application now comes with enhanced features which include the option to test signal strength room-by-room.

There’s also the ability to manage devices that are connected to their home network – including pausing a WiFi connection to individual devices – and access in-app customer support should they need help to resolve any problems.

“Virgin Media’s new WiFi guarantee goes hand-in-hand with its self-optimising hubs and signal boosting mesh WiFi Pods to offer customers complete peace of mind that they’ll get reliable WiFi in every room or money back.”

Along with this update, Virgin has also just announced a new deal that’s offering £200 cashback on certain plans including Bigger Movies, Bigger Sports or the Ultimate Volt plan.

This big incentive means some customers will get the first three months of their new contract totally free.
