The Conjuring Is Getting a TV Series at Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max

Warner Bros. Discovery has greenlit a new streaming television series set in The Conjuring universe, which is headed to HBO’s rebranded streaming service known as “Max.”

The news was announced during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service, which represents the merger between HBO Max and Discovery+.

The new horror series is set to continue the story from the movies. Peter Safran — who is also busy handling Warner Bros. Discovery’s DCU with James Gunn — will serve as executive producer alongside James Wan. Safran and Wan were the producer and director team on the original The Conjuring movie in 2013. The pair also worked together on The Conjuring 2, Aquaman, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The Conjuring franchise has also seen a handful of spinoffs, including the Annabelle and The Nun spinoff series. The Nun 2 is set to hit theaters later this year on September 8.

We were fans of the original The Conjuring in 2013, saying in our review, “Despite having a fairly standard haunted house horror plot, James Wan has created a fun, scary and beautiful looking movie.”

Elsewhere during today’s unveiling, Warner Bros. Discovery also revealed the first look at The Penguin, a new look at The Flash, and a brand new Game of Thrones prequel series.
