The Last of Us: New HBO Max Footage Reveals More About the Show and the Star Cast

The Last of US HBO Max show has long been touted as the adaptation that will take live-action stories based on video games to the next level.

Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as the titular characters in Joel and Ellie respectively, the series follows their lives as they embark on a journey across America following a deadly zombie virus outbreak that nearly wiped off the entire population.

Just like the video game franchise, the show is expected to be quite bleak with its aesthetics and story, with the first trailer for the series confirming it to be the case.

Since then, the showrunners haven’t revealed much, as fans beg for more images and trailers. However, a new HBO Max sizzle reel for its 2023 release slate showcases never before seen footage of the upcoming series.

Judging by the looks of the sizzle reel, fans should expect to see recreations of some of the title’s most iconic scenes, including Outbreak Day, when the Cordyceps infection that causes humans to turn into zombies reached critical mass.

The trailer showcases new looks at some of the characters that we will get to see, alongside Pascal’s Joel and Ramsey’s Ellie. This includes Storm Reid, who plays Riley in the series. The show also features other star cast members in Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Gabriel Luna and more.

While we don’t have a confirmed release date yet, the show is set to debut in 2023 with ten episodes for its pilot season.
