The Last of Us Season 2 Pre-Production Now Paused Amidst Ongoing Writers’ Strike
Variety further adds that according to multiple sources, “the casting team was asking actors to read sides taken directly from The Last of Us Part II, the video game on which the second season will be based, due to the fact that there are no scripts for Season 2 at this time.”
Director Craig Mazin stands in solidarity with the Writers Guild Association
The Director of the HBO The Last of Us series, Craig Mazin, who is also the co-writer of the show along with Neil Druckmann, was recently seen at a protest site. Variety informs that Druckmann is currently not involved with writing or producing work for The Last of Us Season 2, which includes casting. Druckmann, too, is reportedly off the production for the time being.
Amidst all of this, Variety reports that The Last of Us Season 2 shooting can be expected to begin in early 2024. The production will kick off in Vancouver.
Some of the other shows that are confirmed to have been put on hold in solidarity with the Writers’ Strike include, Andor (Season 2), Stranger Things (Season 5), Daredevil: Born Again, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, and Cobra Kai (Season 6). Marvel’s Blade was formally delayed as the pre-production work is now on pause due to the Writers’ Strike.
