The Legend of Zelda: Nintendo Delayed Tears of the Kingdom by a Year to Polish the Game
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was delayed for a year to make it more polished.
In an interview with The Washington Post, the legendary Eiji Aonuma let slip about the game being complete when the delay was announced last year. He further stated that the team made the decision to postpone Tears of the Kingdom’s release to polish the game and make sure it was “100 percent” to their standards.
Tears of the Kingdom had been in the works for years, with the game officially announced at E3 2019. The sequel to Breath of the Wild was later showcased at E3 2021, where a release window of 2022 was announced.
However, the game was later delayed and during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct, the Japanese gaming giants confirmed the May 12, 2023 launch date.
A year-long delay for a game is usually required by developers to fix major issues and add/change elements about the game. However, that wasn’t the case with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
After wowing fans with Breath of the Wild a few years ago, many believe that Nintendo has once again upped the gaming experience with its latest release. The new title features a ton of new mechanics involving complex physics, which is something fans haven’t seen at such a large scale. From crafting to traversal, the game has it all; the RPG experience is quite filled with rich quests to complete with Link.
With recent releases like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor suffering from brutal launch issues, Tears of the Kingdom succeeded massively providing a largely bug free experience, even though it featured complex mechanics, physics, and crafting system. It’s a testament of the work put in the game’s developers to push out a product that meets the huge standards of The Legend of Zelda franchise.
