The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Nintendo Shuts Down Leaks and Emulators Through DMCA Takedowns

It looks like Nintendo will be taking it up a notch against the likes of pirates and people who are trying to emulate its big upcoming game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Japanese gaming giant is shutting down these activities via DMCA takedowns. In addition, it’s worth noting that the scope of DMCA takedowns has extended beyond traditional media platforms to include GitHub, where even tools like Lockpick, which is designed to dump keys from the Nintendo Switch console, have not been immune. This issue was brought to light by developer and security analyst Simon Aarons, as reported by NicheGamer.

The company wanted these tools taken down as the keys were used to emulate the game on PC. Aarons stated that Lockpick was brought down thanks to pirates. He added that Lockpick could only dump console keys and digital game keys, and Tears of the Kingdom seemingly leaked from a physical cartridge. This issue has stirred up problems amongst die-hard fans in the community that love to mod their titles.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom official strategy guide coming soon

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will get a strategy guide a month after release on June 12. Players will have two options to choose from, a paperback version for $29.99 or a hardcover edition for $44.99. This is something fans of the Breath of the Wild strategic guide will look forward to.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release for the Nintendo Switch on May 12. However, it has been a tumultuous journey for Nintendo leading up to the game’s launch, as the title was leaked online. Former president and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, also channelled his inner Liam Neeson to drive fear in to the heart of the people who were pirating the game.
