According to Can You Pet The Dog, a catalogue that tells us what games have pettable animals, players cannot pet their dog partners in the latest Zelda game. However, Zelda fans do not know how to take no for an answer and have found their own workarounds.
Gamers have found both direct and indirect ways to pet the good doggie. In the direct way, players need to select an item to throw, which keeps Link’s hand extended, and they can reach over to the dog. In the indirect way, players have built large contraptions through TOTK’s new building mechanics that pets the dog for you. Both ways are truly fascinating to watch and also shows what lengths players can go to just to pet a virtual dog.

While we are on the topic of TOTK, Nintendo has just released a new set of custom user icons, themed around the latest adventure. Players that are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online will be able to claim multiple user icons released in two waves until May 25.
