The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 Trailer Shows Bloody Battles and Unicorns

Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2, giving fans a brief look at the final three episodes and Henry Cavill’s final outing as Geralt of Rivia.

The near two minute trailer is fairly action packed, showing a tense battle taking place across the ballroom floor where Geralt, Yen, and a muddle of meddling mages danced in the closing episodes of Volume 1.

We also see Ciri fall from a portal into the desert and meet a unicorn before jumping from the maw of a giant sand beastie. Geralt and Yennefer appear in hot water too, as both are seen covered in blood and fighting for their lives against all manner of baddies.

Volume 2, encompassing episodes six through eight of Season 3, premieres on Netflix on July 27, four weeks after Volume 1 debuted. It will be fans’ last look at Cavill as Geralt after it was announced Liam Hemsworth will take over starting with Season 4.

The first few episodes left us seeking plenty of answers in the Season 3 conclusion, while fans of the original Witcher books will have plenty questions of their own.

In our 7/10 review of Volume 1, IGN said: “The Witcher is back and more complex than ever, but its dry approach to courtly intrigue and prophecy stalls its few true instances of fantasy fun.”

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He’ll talk about The Witcher all day.
